Second Weekend Of July
On probably the hottest Saturday of the summer, all of the Saturday teams went unbeaten. The Saturday 1s were unable to grab that last wicket against Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian Cricket Club and so had to be content with a winning draw. Leon Houreau scored 94 not out for Bushwackers ably supported by Louis van den Berg with 70 and Kaine Patel scored 77 for the Poets. There were also 5 other batsmen within the other teams scoring 50s. So, there were a lot of jugs to be bought!
On Sunday, the winning feeling continued as the Sunday 2s and 3s also won. Special mention must be made of Steve Capron who scored his maiden century for the OWs scoring 109 for the Sunday 2s against the Old Freemans – Friendly XI.
Let’s hope the winning habit continues this week.
